Approaching the Arch

Hello from Iowa...soon to be South Dakota!

We have been driving for roughly four hours from St. Louis and we're heading to the Sioux Falls. We just made some lunch here at a rest stop with free wifi :] We might be camping somewhere near Mt. Rushmore tonight so we can get an early start tomorrow. We have about another 4-6 hours of driving.

But let me tell you about St. Louis...its fantastic!

This city was so awesome and clean...much more impressionable than the D. As we were approaching the city we saw the Arch. It was so exciting we couldnt believe we were actually there. That was when we just realized that this trip is real...and that we have so much more to see on our trip. We made lunch at a park outside of the Arch. Afterward we went to the Cardinals game at 1:15 and stayed till about 3ish. We decided while we were there to take the ride to the top of the arch and go on an hour tour on the Mississippi River. Both were inexpensive. The arch was only 7 dollars because we had the National parks pass and the cruise was 14. It was awesome to experience both attractions. We got a good "feel" for the west and what is to come. So today is day 3 of the trip...we have spent about 55 dollars on gas and drove over 900 miles. Our biggest expense thus far was the attractions yesterday. Thats it! All our food has been cooked. Snacks have been good too. I forgot to mention last night we managed to camp for free which will be our game plan for the rest of the trip lol. We pulled into a RV camp around 10 pm and the office was already closed so we put up our tent in a lot and took off by 7:30 when the office opened. They dont even know we were there.

Alright we're taking off...hopefully tomorrow we will see Mt. Rushmore then start heading to Yellowstone!
